EU and Egypt

Vice-President of the European Commission Mr. Frans Timmermans and Egyptian Foreign Minister H.E. Sameh Shoukry met in Cairo earlier this week for a consultation on climate policy, which included:

- preparations for COP27,
- issues related to the implementation of the European Green Deal, the Climate Change Strategy 2050 and the Egyptian 2030 Strategy,
- issues related to the process of fair transition on the African continent,
- orientations towards enhanced cooperation, dialogue, active consultations and the development of an EU-Egypt partnership,
- exchange of expertise and technologies in areas of common interest,
- adaptation to the harmful effects of climate change etc.
