Your Europe, your say! - an annual event for students aged 16 to 18
organized by the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels with a view to connecting young people with the European Union. At the two-day event, students aged 16 to 18 who are citizens of EU Member States and EU candidate countries gather their ideas, suggestions and opinions on their future as European citizens in the form of resolutions, which are then forwarded to the relevant EU institutions. Every high school in the EU can register for the Your Europe, Your Voice event via the online form, subject to the published application deadline and the acceptance of the general conditions.
The school applying must also meet the following conditions:
If the school does not meet any of the conditions at all times, it will be sanctioned by immediate exclusion from the event.
Registered students will be required to send the Committee the permission of their legal representatives and the school principal to participate in the event within the set deadline and on the prescribed form, available in all EU official languages and provided by the event team, otherwise they will not be allowed to attend the event. .
Due to the situation, the event in 2022 is organized as a virtual event.
The process of selecting timely and correctly registered schools to participate in the event is based on a draw system for each country, in accordance with the rules. The selection notice is sent to the school's e-mail address and the list of schools drawn is published on its website by the European Economic and Social Committee.
The school applying must also meet the following conditions:
- has a valid secondary school status certified by national education authorities,
- teaches students between the ages of 16 and 18,
- is established in the EU or is one of the candidates for EU membership or one of the Brussels European Schools,
- has appropriate computer technology (reading and printing PDF documents) and the Internet and e-mail,
- the teacher and the three students registered by the school on their own behalf have the ability to communicate in English
- the teacher and three students must attend the event during the lesson,
- the selected three students must have a laptop or tablet that allows internet access,
- the topic set by the European Economic and Social Committee must be properly prepared before the event itself,
- ensure that one member of the European Economic and Social Committee is admitted to his school from January to February. All travel and subsistence expenses of the member are the responsibility of the European Economic and Social Committee and are not borne by the chosen school. The member will meet with a teacher and three students, and will also present matters about the event itself and the EU to at least one class of the selected school.
- to inform selected and other students of the school about the event itself and about the possibility of following the event via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
