LUX Audience Award: supporting culture and connecting Europeans
The Lux Audience Film Award is an award based on:
The award is presented by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in partnership with the European Commission and the Europa Cinemas network.
The award connects citizens with Europe by actively involving them in the voting for the best film. Watching films arouses the viewer's thinking and experience of Europe, thus paving the way for further debate on Europe and its future.
A 20-member jury composed of representatives of the European film industry, from all films that are not submitted on their own initiative and meet the conditions:
The audience and the European Parliament cast their votes online, with the voice of the audience counting for one half and the vote of the European Parliament for the other half. The site also allows you to view a list and summary of awards by year. Randomly drawn voters are rewarded for their voting by being invited to the award ceremony.
The winning film is also adapted for the most vulnerable groups - blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing. On the video-on-demand section of the website, those interested can view a list of platforms where they can watch films.

- last at least 60 minutes,
- are productions or co-productions that qualify for the Creative Europe MEDIA strand of the EU and Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro,
- illustrate European values and cultural diversity,
- initiate and promote a debate on European integration,
choose (as a rule) the five main films that will compete for the award. Five nominated films with subtitles in all 24 official EU languages are also publicly presented (virtually or in cinemas) and promoted. Standard films are screened in many cities across the EU, ensuring greater visibility and a larger audience.
