New European Bauhaus Award
The new European Bauhaus is an emerging movement that calls on activists, designers, artists, students, scientists, engineers, companies, institutions, policy makers and all other stakeholders to contribute to the creation of interdisciplinary projects and more comprehensive solutions by exchanging ideas, knowledge and needs. .
The idea of the award is based on the ambition to make the Green Deal a cultural, human-centered, positive and tangible experience. So we are talking about the implementation of the Green Agreement in everyday life - in buildings, in public places, in fashion, in furniture, in lifestyle and the like. The new European Bauhaus movement calls for change and reflection on green and digital challenges and for finding innovative solutions to complex societal problems.
The objectives of the initiative are:
- inclusion, which represents the creation of more affordable and accessible living spaces in the future,
- design sustainable living and the circulation of materials,
- improving the quality of life, without neglecting functionality and comfort.
The new European Bauhause 2021 is being implemented in three phases: as co-creation (co-design phase), implementation (delivery phase) and dissemination.
The co-design phase lasted from October 2020 to June 2021. The phase was based on the collection of examples, ideas, concepts and concepts that combine all three goals: sustainability, inclusion, quality of life.
The delivery phase started in September 2021. The phase includes the design and implementation of pilot projects supported by specific calls for proposals.
The dissemination phase is the last phase, which will start from 2023 onwards. The phase will include the dissemination of good ideas in Europe and beyond, knowledge sharing and networking. Cooperation with citizens is crucial.
The New European Bauhaus Award for the first phase distinguishes ten categories:
I. Construction and design techniques, materials and procedures
(solutions are being sought for a built environment that would help mitigate climate change, protect the environment and provide more affordable and inclusive places)
II. Construction according to the concept of rotation
(finding examples of places to recycle and reuse materials in construction, emphasizing the circulation of materials as a central element of the European Green Agreement)
III. Solutions for the co-development of the built environment and nature
(Examples are sought to illustrate how the built environment contributes to the protection of nature and biodiversity, taking into account cultural and social needs)
IV. Renovated urban and rural areas
(We are looking for examples of renovation of territories that have been oriented sustainably and aesthetically and developed with the participation and active participation of all stakeholders)
V. Products and lifestyle
(We are looking for products and processes that contribute to a sustainable, attractive and inclusive lifestyle. This category covers elements of our everyday life: fashion, furniture, interior design, food, etc.)
