Participate in the consultation on EU local and regional policies
EU regional policy is a policy aimed at creating new jobs and improving competitiveness, economic growth, quality of life and the sustainable development of EU regions and cities. The main legal basis for EU regional policy is set out in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, in Articles 174 to 178, and is further specified in the Cohesion Policy legislation 2021-2027.
The objectives of EU cohesion policy are pursued through:
- The European Regional Development Fund - a fund for financing the social and economic development of all EU cities and regions,
- The Cohesion Fund - a fund for financing the environment and transport in less developed EU countries,
- The European Social Fund Plus - a fund for financing jobs and creating equitable social inclusion for all EU countries,
- The Just Transition Fund - a fund to finance the regions most affected by the transition to climate neutrality.
Interested public can access free of charge more detailed Cohesion Policy data for the period 2021-2027.

The European Committee of the Regions is the messenger of EU regions and cities, with a legal basis set out in the Treaty of Lisbon. It is responsible for:
The European Committee of the Regions strongly encourages regional and local authorities and the public to cooperate through a variety of methods;
- by completing online surveys,
- attending events in Brussels or elsewhere,
- organizing its own events on the premises of the European Committee of the Regions,
- nomination for the European Entrepreneurial Region award,
- participation in the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions, and
- expressing opinions in the public consultation process.
Public consultations, in which anyone with an interest in EU regional and local policies can take part, are available on the European Committee of the Regions' website. Under each case that is in the process of public consultation, instructions for participation are provided - usually via the specified e-mail.
