Radiation is energy in the form of waves or particles. Radiation is divided into ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation is all those electromagnetic waves that have enough energy to split chemical bonds and thus create the formation of ions (ionization). In case the wave does not have enough energy for ionization, we are talking about non-ionizing radiation.
Ionizing radiation can be natural or artificial (nuclear energy, medicine, industry), we can detect it only with the help of appropriate instruments, but not with the senses. Ionizing radiation, depending on the size of the dose and the absorbed dose, causes various injuries in humans (damage to blood cells, cancer, sterility, death, etc.). As many people are exposed to ionizing radiation in their work, the Radiation Protection Convention is one of the most important at the international level.

The causes of non-ionizing radiation are all electrical devices, power lines, base stations, radio, TV transmitters, microwave ovens, mobile phones, WI-FI transmitters, 5G network and the like.
The development of telecommunication technology requires increasing attention from decision-makers at the international level, so the field is currently regulated on the basis of international recommendations of an independent professional organization - the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and responses from the World Health Organization.
