European Commission

based in Brussels, is the executive body of the European Union, consisting of 28 Commissioners (27 Commissioners and one President). Each EU Member State is represented by one Commissioner, who manages his/her department. The President of the European Commission for the 2019-2024 term is Ursula von der Leyen.
 
Commission 's organizational structure, in additon to political leadership, is formed of:
-          general directorates,
-          service departments and
-          executive agencies.
 
The European Commission has its representations in EU Member States and outside the European Union (delegations). The European Commission is responsible for preparing proposals for EU legislation (further decided by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union) and for preparing action at EU level. As the executive body, the Commission takes care of the correct implementation of the adopted legislation and the implementation of the founding treaties. The Commission is also responsible for preparing, proposing and supervisiong the European budget and managing EU funding programs. As a co-creator of the European Union's foreign policy, the Commission works closely with the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the G7, the G20 and other similar groups.
