is a € 3.7 trillion public-private partnership between the European Union and the Biomass Industries Consortium (BIC). The main task of the BBI JU Joint Undertaking is:
 
- funding research based on innovative technology in the conversion of bio waste into green products, and
- promoting the transition to a sustainable bio-economy.
