Secondary legislation of the EU
Secondary EU legislation is consisted of:
* binding acts with direct effect in the EU Member States - regulations, decisions;
* binding acts which are not directly applicable in the EU Member States - directives, so their content must be transposed into national law within the prescribed period, usually within two years of its adoption, otherwise the European Commission may initiate infringement proceedings EU;
* non-binding acts such as recommendations and opinions of the EU institutions.
