Commissioner for Human Rights
is an independent body with a consultative, intelligence and awareness-raising role on the international stage since 1999. The duties and responsibilities of the Commissioner for Human Rights are based on Resolution (99) 50 on the Council of Europe and the following is highlighted:
The Commissioner, as a spokesperson for the promotion and respect for human rights, regularly publishes reports on his work and activities and organizes training workshops and seminars, which involve public and economic experts and all types of civil society organizations on a voluntary basis. The Commissioner addresses all areas of human rights, with the most common topics being:
- promoting the (co) operation of national human rights bodies,
- identifying shortcomings in the constitutional and legislative systems of countries in the field of human rights,
- the establishment of human rights violations, but not in the form of the receipt of individual complaints because it is not a judicial body, etc.
